GB promotes the construction of buildings using the latest technologies in industrialized construction, always projecting their buildings according to passive construction standards. In general, we use light construction systems such as wood which allow us to industrialize the processes. All the structural elements are manufactured in a workshop, allowing us to reduce the execution time on site, implement extensive quality controls and obtain a final product of high energy efficiency. Whats is a Passive House like?

A passive house is a house that practically does not consume or recquire energy to be heated. This is not a concrete architectural design or specific materials but a way of building. In order to certify a house “Passive House” the following parameters must be met:

High quality enclosures:

To guarantee the sealing values requested by the Passivhaus Institut and to avoid energy loss, the windows are triple-glazed with a chamber filled with argon gas.

Removal of thermal bridges:

The construction systems used minimize the conflict points where thermal leaks can occur that create thermal bridges.

High-level of airtightness:

A passive house has limited the maximum infiltrations of air to ≤ 0'6 renovations / hour. All the points that are susceptible to air leaks are protected with different technical solutions and materials.

Passive design:

We design projects considering the building compacity optimizing orientation in order to create openings in the facade that in winter works as a solar collectors. At the same time these openings are protected from direct sunlight in summer to favor a cooler environment inside the house.

Thermal insulation:

Insulation is the main factor affecting comfort and energy saving. In a passive house the insulation of the thermal envelope of the building is a determining factor.

Controlled mechanical ventilation with heat and energy recovery ventilators:

It would be of little use to build a house with this level of tightness and so well thermally insulated if we needed to open the windows to ventilate and, therefore, home loses the energy accumulated in the interior. We install controlled mechanical ventilation systems equipped with heat and energy recovery ventilators that allow recovering part of the energy from the air conditioning guaranteeing a constant renovation of low flow for 24 hours a day.

Thanks to the lightness and versatility of the industrialized systems that we use to construct, we can build houses on the roofs of the buildings, thus completing the vacant spaces that many buildings have.

Our houses weigh 1/3 less compared to a traditionally built house and the execution deadlines are reduced substantially which allows us to cause minimal discomfort to the neighbors and occupants of the building who do not have to leave their home nor cease the commercial activity, in case of shops on ground floor, at any time.

Arquitectural and energy rehabilitation

99% of Spanish households suffer unnecessary energy loss due to poor thermal insulation. The main loss of this energy occurs in the facade and roof. That is why proper thermal insulation will be essential to achieve optimal levels of comfort and significant energy savings.
Although insulation is the main factor affecting comfort and energy saving, it is not the only one. HVAC systems are also responsible. Often in homes, there are situations of thermal discomfort. Most times the stratification of temperatures can occur within different rooms.
The quality of the air we breathe in our homes is also very important as it directly affects our health and well-being. The best way to improve the quality of the air is to install a heat and energy recovery ventilator that allows the recovery of some energy from the air conditioning in the interior of the houses through a system of controlled mechanical ventilation, this guarantees a constant renovation of the interior air for 24 hours a day. This, in turn, saves you money at the same time.
This ventilation system continuously extracts the stale air from the kitchens and bathrooms and introduces fresh air from the outside to the rest of the rooms (bedrooms, dining room, living room, …), acting as an outdoor air exchanger with the indoor air without mixing. This way, in winter, the energy released by the indoor air serves to heat incoming outside air causing less effort by the heating system to reach the set temperature resulting in greater energy savings. In summer, the system works in reverse: the internal air helps to cool the outside air entering the system.

The heat and energy recovery ventilator have filters that retain pollutants and considerably improve the quality of the air we breathe in our homes. These filters may be special for certain allergenic particles such as pollen or dust mites.

Example of building energy rehabilitation

The first thermography shows an uninsulated or poorly insulated building. The energy that radiates from the inside escapes through the facade and windows. The temperature of the facade is approximately 7 °.

The second thermography shows the same building once the rehabilitation works consist of the hyperinsulation of the facade and substitution of windows. In this case there is virtually no energy loss from the façade and windows. The temperature of the facade is approximately 4 °, very similar to the outside.
